The longing for real connection and places where we can simply be who we are is real. Community isn't a side dish—or even optional—on the spiritual path. To know our wholeness and stay centered in these times, we need each other. Period.
You deserve more than just people to sit beside on a Sunday morning or interact with online. You deserve community where you can show up as your whole self and exhale. The kind where you don't have to have all the answers or say the right thing. Where people notice when you've been gone for a while. Where laughter comes easily, tears don't need to be explained, and practicing a spiritual life becomes something we do together instead of trying to figure it out on our own.
What's also real is that many of us have very little experience—let alone practice—with this kind of life together. We've never been here before: building community within these circumstances, while wrestling with all that we are wrestling with.
We know how to gather around work, entertainment, obligation, or crisis. We know how to organize events, complete projects, and consume experiences alongside one another. But most of us were never taught how to cultivate belonging intentionally or how to create relationships spacious enough for truth, creativity, grief, delight, conflict, and genuine care.
That's what this next season is about.
Over the next three months, we'll be exploring what it means to cultivate and practice conscious community—not simply attending Sunday gatherings together, but intentionally making connections, showing up honestly and vulnerably, bumping into each other's wounds and making repairs, and becoming the kind of people who help one another grow, heal, and come alive.
One key question will guide us throughout the series:
What is at the center of our circle?
Every community gathers around something, whether consciously or unconsciously. Some communities are held together by shared opinions, familiar routines, a charismatic leader, or the comfort of being around people who are like us. But a healthy spiritual community gathers around something deeper: a shared commitment to truth, love, awakening, healing, service, and spiritual growth.
What sits at the center determines much of what becomes possible in community. It shapes how we treat one another. It shapes what is welcomed and what is quietly pushed aside. It shapes whether people become more guarded or more fully themselves.
My hope is that over the next few months we'll do more than talk about community. I hope we'll practice it with courage and willingness to go deeper together.
Let's laugh together, learn together, ask honest questions, and make a ton of room for each other's stories. Through these practices and our time together, we'll discover more deeply what it means to support one another's growth and remember that our liberation has always been bound up with one another—and that none of us were ever meant to walk this path alone.
What an honor it is to walk it with you.
