Welcome to learning more about membership at ABQCSL!

We hope you have attended gatherings or watched sermons on Youtube to get a feel for who we are. If you haven’t, we encourage you to do so prior to joining as a member. We also highly recommend reading about us on our website to learn more, in particular, the About Us page, Our Beliefs page, and the FAQ page will provide lots of information.

Spiritual Community is made up of its people. We each bring our unique authentic divine nature to the community. We each have a critical contribution to make. Your presence matters. Each a part of a greater whole.

Spiritual Community is held together by Love that we call by many names. This is in an intentional spiritual community of practice and service where we get to experience that Love through our connection to one another.

While faith and spirituality is personal, it was never meant to be private.  In spiritual living we need community with other Love minded folks to walk our unique journey of transformation with support, guidance, and celebration.

These things do not depend on center membership.  In other words, it’s possible to have a role in this Center and a relationship with the community without being an official member of ABQ CSL.  Certainly, membership can and should enhance these things, but it must be stated that spiritual living can happen apart from membership. We recognize that the meaning of membership in a spiritual community is deeply personal—just as your walk with and as Spirit is uniquely yours, so too is finding a sense of belonging within a spiritual community.

Membership is a visible commitment.

Membership is a personal commitment that transforms lives - a path of deepening and enduring spiritual growth. A choice to become a partner in the unfolding vision of our spiritual community. Joyous stewardship by bringing your unique gifts to our spiritual community.

Some More Things to Know About Us
We greatly value consensus decision making in our community.

Consensus decision-making is a collaborative process where group members work together to reach a decision that everyone can accept or support, even if it’s not each person’s first choice. Unlike majority voting, consensus seeks to address the concerns of all participants and find a solution that balances different viewpoints. The goal is unity and mutual agreement, not just a numerical win. When a consensus decision can not be reached, more formal and traditional procedures will be used. More information can be found in Section 17 of our Bylaws.

We greatly value conscious leadership.

We also work to incorporate The 15 Commitments of Conscious Leadership into our organizational functioning. This is a framework for personal and organizational transformation which outlines 15 key behaviors and mindsets that distinguish conscious leaders from those operating reactively or unconsciously. These commitments fall into three broad areas:

  1. Responsibility – Taking full responsibility for your choices, emotions, and impact (e.g., committing to curiosity instead of being right).
  2. Integrity – Living in alignment with your values, honoring agreements, and telling the truth.
  3. Authentic Relating & Win-for-All Thinking – Creating cultures of trust through transparency, deep listening, and seeking outcomes that benefit everyone.

At its core, this model encourages leaders to shift from a mindset of fear and control to one of openness, learning, and possibility. Learn more on their website.

We celebrate diversity within Oneness.

We are committed to radical welcome & participation for all. We are committed to this practice within our community and being a stand for Oneness in the world. We greatly value and strive to cultivate diversity, equity, and inclusion through the community practice of Radical Welcome. Using Tracy Brown’s book Stained Glass Spirit: Becoming a Spiritual Community Where Oneness Does Not Require Sameness (visit her website), we explore how to be a spiritual community that genuinely embraces diversity without erasing individual differences. Using the metaphor of a stained glass window—where each vibrant pane contributes to an inspiring whole—the book presents diversity as a spiritual principle and offers practical insights on how to shift from mere diversity to real inclusion. It guides leaders and members to:

  • Translate diversity into meaningful inclusion
  • Differentiate between snap social activism and spiritually grounded action
  • Appreciate that unity doesn’t demand uniformity
  • Cultivating love, harmony, and wholeness in multi-ethnic, multi-gendered, and multi-generational settings
